Phat Cat Swinger returns to Campus JAX
Playing enthused Swing, Jazz and Rock for both listening and dancing - Phat Cat Swinger has a jumpin’ rhythm and a powerful horn section.
That matches the smooth baritone vocals of founding member Marco Palos, who is accompanied by Mark Kopitzke, former vocalist of the Glenn Miller Orchestra! The band's ingenious selection of songs range from original music to covers - all inspired by American classics like Sinatra and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.
Phat Cat Swinger specializes in a high-energy show with that classic Hollywood touch. The Phat Cats have been featured on videos with Christina Aguilera (Candyman), The Jonas Brothers (Love Bug) and Irish rock band, Snow Patrol (In The End). They were even selected among California's best Big Bands by JJ Abrams to perform for his company, Bad Robot Productions!
Campus JAX has state-of-the-art sound and lighting with pristine acoustics, unobstructed sight lines, dance floor and VIP seating with a 4-star menu and fast service. Free parking, all ages, situated near OC Airport.

Petunia has spent most of the last 23 years crisscrossing sections of Europe, North and South America, playing his old hobo haunts, hitch hiking junctions, street corners, dive bars, churches and rundown theatres. He's more than just an entertainer, he's a modern musical enigma.
A restless wanderer, a musical historian, and a quirky yet amazing talent, Petunia is simply a Canadian treasure joining the greats from north of the 49th.
A poem by Al Mader describing Petunia:
Razor sharp hombre
all snake eyes and boxcars
steals a kiss from a raven-hairedflapper
slips out the side window
of a 1920s speakeasy
Out fleet-foots a flatfoot
hops a train to
Buddy Bolden’s tombstone
wins some horseflesh playing
high stud –
pitches camp beneath a prairie sky
watched over by a full moon
and a lovesick coyote
howling for mercy…
Come enjoy the camaraderie of music lovers like yourself.
Free parking, full menu, all ages and a big dance floor.

JOHN McEUEN HAS SURGERY - POSTPONES THIS SHOW
Please stand by for a new date for this show in the fall...
As a teenager in Orange County, McEuen worked in the Disney Magic House, where he met Steve Martin and took up the banjo as a way to get on the radio. Martin became his first student.
John McEuen brings with him 45+ years of worldwide performing with his banjo, fiddle, guitar, and mandolin. Often referred to as 'the String Wizard', he weaves stories of his travels and family life (he has raised 7 kids), taking us through where his musical path has taken him.
A founding member of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1966, John instigated the 1972 classic Will the Circle Be Unbroken album, (inducted in to the Library of Congress as 'one of America's most important recordings). He has earned Emmy nominations, Grammy Awards, CMA acclaim, The Western Heritage Award, and many other accolades can be found on his website: www.johnmceuen.com.
Proud to be an integral part of the first American band to go to Russia (in 1977!), John's love of performing is evident when during his shows he takes us 'behind the curtain' of the music world that so many of us know of only as listeners, and shows us how we have all been a part of it, more than we may know.
McEuen's XM radio show, Acoustic Traveller, is in its 6th year, and you can find his new Americana Music Show on Syndicatednews.net (of which he is CEO)
As winner of the 2010 Best of the West Performer award from the Folk Alliance organization, John's show is sure to be one enjoyed by all. He also won Best Bluegrass Album Grammy that year for his production of The Crow - Steve Martin). John in June of 2013 was honored with the Charlie Poole Lifetime Achievement Award in North Carolina.
With music from 1860's to now, original songs laced with known hits, and a special tribute to the 'Circle' album music (and the stories behind it), it all comes to life in an evening of acoustic music in overdrive.

The HawtThorns
An Americana band whose sun-kissed songwriting, versatile guitar work and lush vocal harmonies evoke the California coastline as much as the Bible Belt countryside.
The HawtThorns are rooted in the collaborative chemistry of husband-and-wife duo KP and Johnny Hawthorn.

Rod Piazza: Return of the Mighty Flyers
For some time now, the Mighty Flyers have been on a hiatus from performing. That is just about to change!
Rod Piazza's harmonica technique borders on astonishing - a delicate combination of power and grace that maintains the fattest of tones while alternately evoking classic Chicago styles, interpreting R&B horn lines, or playing his own signature licks.
At this point in his career, Piazza has been recording longer than George "Harmonica" Smith, or Sonny Boy Williamson, or Big Walter Horton. He's been making records for more years than Little Walter was alive.
Piazza is also a master of West Coast jump blues, incorporating elements of Los Angeles' postwar jazz, swing and R&B combos.
The Mighty Flyers' commanding performances showcase Rod's searing harmonica, his impassioned vocals and his showmanship, punctuated by the two-fisted boogies of pianist Miss Honey Piazza, a highly acclaimed musician in her own right. But any Mighty Flyers show is more than just a harp showcase; it's a group effort by tightly-knit elite musicians whose considerable talents complement one another.
Joining the show is the Dennis Gruenling Band, the perfect way to get ready for a Piazza performance.
From his love of Jump Blues, Swing and early Rock & Roll, multi-award winner Dennis Gruenling plays the mouthharp with an approach and sound reminiscent of swing and R&B saxophone players from the 1940s & 50s.
