Main St. Blues w/ Morry Sochat & Kid Ramos

MORRY SOCHAT:

Morry Sochat (pronounced Socket) moved to Chicago from Texas in 1990. He started playing harmonica in 2000, taking lessons from renowned teacher Joe Filisko at the Old Town School of Folk Music, and is especially adept at classic Chicago Blues with Swing and Rock N’ Roll from the 1950’s.

Morry is influenced by Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Louis Jordan, Junior Wells, and all of the Chicago greats and often plays with Dave Specter, Willie “Big Eyes” Smith, Billy Flynn and Barrelhouse Chuck.

KID RAMOS:

Kid Ramos has been entertaining audiences with his blistering guitar skills for decades in bands like the Fabulous Thunderbirds. He is an outstanding American electric blues and blues rock guitarist, singer and songwriter.

He has worked with James Harman, Roomful of Blues, the Big Rhythm Combo, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, The Mannish Boys, Bobby Jones and Los Fabulocos.

MONDO CORTEZ:

Blues guitarist Armando (Mondo) Cortez founded the Chicago Blues Angels band in 1999 as its lead guitar player.

Having shared the stage with such luminaries as Kid Ramos, Kim Wilson, Lynwood Slim, Nick Moss, Rockin' Johnny, Nick Curran and Willie Smith, Mondo cites influences such as Johnny Guitar Watson, Muddy Waters, Albert Collins, Freddie King, Earl Hooker, Robert Lockwood and others.

THE MEMPHIS KINGS:

With influences like Johnny Guitar Watson, Junior Barnard, Lonnie Johnson, Roy Lanham, Hank Garland, Big Bill, B.B. King Willie Dixon, T-Bone Walker, Howlin Wolf, Louis Jourdan, Jimmy Reed, Little Walter, Elmore James, Freddie King, Big Joe Turner and Sam Lightning Hopkins, you would expect to hear the best of the blues when this band performs.

The core band consists of Tommy Harkenrider, John Dominguez and Ron Felton, but when they perform it is almost always with a blues great joining them.
